Cancer Counselling

If you have just been diagnosed with cancer you will be in a state of shock. Soon the physical treatment will take its course and you will feel a little better, a little more in control. You can and will receive the best possible treatment under the NHS.  Other agencies such as Macmillan will do all they can to help.

As a cancer sufferer you are facing a huge challenge and you could benefit considerably from additional psychological help.  At Vital Minds I use the Hypno-chemo Complimentary Care Programme to assist cancer sufferers.  The programme is designed to reduce the levels of stress experienced by cancer sufferers.  This allows their immune system to operate to its full capacity.  This boosted immune system, combined with modern treatment allows my clients to “participate in recovery” in a positive, optimistic way.  This  aids treatment, relieves pain and reduces the negative effects of treatment.

Research shows that reducing fears and anxieties at every stage of illness increases the effectiveness of medical treatment.

The program comprises up to six sessions.  The first session helps the client to deal with all the negative emotions that he or she is feeling.  The client is helped to relax through a gentle, calming hypnotherapy session (this may also help the client to sleep much better).  The client acquires a much more positive outlook and is able to enjoy the simple pleasures of life once again.  Further sessions help the client to feel positive about their treatment and help with their journey through it.  Family and friends can be involved as well.  This is encouraged, as the sufferer needs a strong support team around them.
